Mission
Taiwanese American Foundation of Greater Seattle was established to benefit the society through public service, cultural awareness, and community togetherness. We hope to facilitate beneficial interactions between cultures, understanding of the American Culture, and raise the quality of life in the lives of our friends from Taiwan, and those are interested in the Taiwanese American culture. Our Mission Statements are:
 
  Raise awareness of the Taiwanese American culture.
Increase the social benefits for Taiwanese Americans.
Facilitate community togetherness, especially amongst Taiwanese American immigrants.


Taiwanese American Foundation of Greater Seattle has been approved of the non-profit organization status. All donations are tax deductible. The Seattle Taiwanese American Community Center is created by the Foundation, and is responsible in planning and holding events and activities. Any, and every one who is passionate about, or would like to learn more about Taiwanese cultures is our client. We sincerely ask for your support and participation.


The site for the Seattle Taiwanese American Community Center was purchased in April, 2003. The present building is a culmination of remodeling and construction work by three Taiwanese ladies, Chen-Chen Liou, Chun-Mei Chen, and Cho-Fen Lee, as well as the invaluable financial support of Mr. & Mrs. Chang-Nan Lin, and Dr. & Mrs. Chou-Chi Chen. The Seattle Taiwanese American Center opening ceremony was held and celebrated on February 28, 2004.

At the present time, the Seattle Taiwanese American Community Center has in its collection in excess of 3000 books, along with the latest in Karaoke sound equipments, computers, culinary kitchen of professional standards, as well as a spacious conference room. [top]

 

Current Events
A. Wednesdays, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Seminars of Our Lives: sharing with everyone experiences we have collected. After each seminar, we would share the food we have brought, and chit-chat. Sounds pretty fun!

            
Topics for the seminars:
                       Fabrication of handmade cards.
                       Fabrication of riceballs.
                       Health conscious foods.
                       Life lessons.
                       Gardening techniques.
                       Western bakeries.
 
B. Wednesdays, 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Bridge.
C. Thursdays, 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Tai-Chi Lessons. Instructions by Jun-Chi Yao, who has 13 years of teaching experience. Hope to see you all join us and learn this very healthy exercise.
D. Fridays, 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Karaoke. With the latest in Karaoke equipments, and an endless selection of songs, come and show off your amazing voice!
E. Saturdays, 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. Aboriginal Dance. Instructions by Chia-Fan Wu, who has 20+ years of experience.
F. First Saturday of every month, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. More or less Dance. Exercise your body, socialize with others while enjoying the music. Come and join us!
G. Sundays, 3:00 PM to 5:00PM. Ballroom Dance Lessons with Instructor Su-Chen Chen.
